A notice of award for construction of the new Fono building was to be delivered yesterday.
And the contract award is to go to the lower of the two bidders, Paramount Construction.
At the time that KHJ News talked with the Chief Procurement Officer Dr. Oreta Crichton yesterday, the award notice had not been delivered.
The CPO said that the Source Evaluation Board’s recommendation was to award the contract to Paramount but negotiations were still going on with the company about the cost as their bid was over the funding that is available at this time.
Dr. Crichton said they are hoping that the contractor would agree to start construction with the available funding which she said was about $10 million.
KHJ News understands that Paramount’s bid was $12,868,470 while Fletcher’s was $20, 411,728.
The engineer”s estimate was $13,095,626.
