high-court

In the High Court this morning, Vi Kinitoni was sentenced to 28 months in jail for stealing.

The court imposed a seven year jail term but this was suspended on condition that he serve 28 months and placed on probation for 7 years.

Kinitoni and several juveniles broke into the SAAB Pago Store in Tafuna and storle about $5,000 worth of goods, none of which were recovered.

Chief Justice Michel Kruse, flanked by Associate Judges Faamausili Pomele and Muasau Tofili, ordered that Kinitoni pay restitution of $5,000 to SAAB Pago.

After serving one year in jail, he is eligible for work release provided he finds a job to pay restitution to the store.

Terms of his probation are that he not make any contact with the juveniles in this case, and stay away from the SSAB Pago store.  He is also banned from alcohol and drugs of any kind including gasoline fumes.

Kinitoni is also subject to random testing by the probation office.
