Family of drowning victim plans funeral for early July

The family of last week’s drowning victim Tinian Makewijere Tuileto’a Toese was supposed to have a family reunion in early July.

But now they will be coming together to farewell and bury her.

Tinian’s mother Winnie told KHJ News that funeral plans have been held back not only because of the police investigation into her death but the first two weeks of July was supposed to be their 1st family reunion.

Mrs Tuiletoa Toese said, “With this sad news to her uncles and aunts and especially her cousins off island we have cancelled our family reunion.  But we will be reunited to say our goodbyes to Tinian.”

The grieving mother says police have told her family that they will try and complete their investigation report this Friday.

The family is planning funeral services for the first week of July.

“We are still in pain because of her loss,” said Mrs Tuiletoa Toese.

But the pain is being eased by the love and support shown from so many.

“But I just can’t believe the people that are praying for us and comforting us at the moment.

“We have been blessed by Tinian in many ways and I just can’t believe the messages many have posted and shared with us.”

To all of them she said, “God bless each and everyone of you out there who feels our pain at this moment…”

She adds, “I know it’s because of their prayers that we are able to make it through day and night.”
