American Samoa will be restating its offer to host next year’s meeting of the Polynesian Leaders Group at the annual meeting of PLG in Tuvalu next week.

Lt Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga will make the offer in Funafuti the capital of Tuvalu, reiterating Governor Lolo Moliga’s offer made last year at the PLG conference in Apia.

Usually the host of the following year’s meeting would be appointed as chair of the PLG at the preceding meeting, so its expected that American Samoa will be given the chair at the end of the Tuvalu PLG.

Agenda items for the Tuvalu meeting are appointment of new members of the PLG: New Zealand, Hawaii and Rapanui or Easter Island,  sustainable development goals,  climate change and oceans, tourism and regional aviation, connectivity, infrastructure, ICT and transport.

The Polynesian leaders will also review a draft charter for the PLG and its Secretariat.

Attending the meeting with Lemanu are the AG, Director of Marine and Wildlife Resources and Iulogologo.
