Local reservists sing anthem at Ft. Shafter farewell

Three female reservists from American Samoa sang Star Spangled Banner at the 962nd Quartermaster Company farewell at Fort Shafter, Hawaii this past Saturday.

While military brass and reservists from Alaska, Guam and Hawaii looked on, Specialists Sigago Samiu, Mehittabell Aiono  and Roberta Puni sang the national anthem.

18 reservists from the 962nd Quartermaster Company, American Samoa departed last Wednesday.

Their date of departure from Fort Shafter is under wraps but they are expected to be deployed to Syria and Afghanistan for up to 8 months.
