The Sosaiete o Faafafine i Amerika Samoa, SOFIAS, is teaming up with the Alliance for Strengthening Families against Domestic Violence to lift the veil of silence on the scourge of domestic violence.
The two organizations are hosting a rally at Suiga Ula o le Atuvasa tomorrow beginning at 6:30 am which will include a wave, speakers and a pep rally.
SOFIAS President Ipi Ieli says there’ll be three zones competing in pep cheer, mascot and banner along the theme Lifting the Veil of Silence. That is to speak out, report and shine the light on incidences of sexual harassment, sexual abuse, mental and physical abuse in homes, workplaces and the community.
The event is from 6:30 am to 9:00 tomorrow at Suiga ula o le Atuvasa.
Meanwhile today is the finale of Senior Citizens Week at Suiga ula.
It starts off with a parade, and then a ceremony where awards will be presented for community service, oldest living senior citizen. and oldest TAOA participant by Governor Lolo, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, the Lions Club and Rotary Club.
There’ll also be entertainment and refreshments to wind up a month full of activities for Older Americans Month with the theme, “Engage At Every Age.”
