There have been no objections filled with the Federal Communications Commission in granting an application for transfer of control and license of the American Samoa Hawaii Cable LLC (Limited Liability Company) to Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Ltd of Fiji.

The application requested the FCC to transfer control of the submarine cable landing license for ASH Cable from Amper to ATH.

As listeners would recall the parent company of BlueSky, Spain-based Amper SA two years ago entered into a purchase agreement with ATH for the sale of the BlueSky Group.

On May 8th ATH submitted a nine page letter of assurance to the US Department of Homeland Security addressing concerns of national security, law enforcement and public safety raised by the federal government relating to ATH being a foreign company.

One of the assurances is to prevent improper use and unauthorized access to ASH Cable and prevent unlawful use or disclosure of information.

ATH committed to implementation of a cyber security plan that is on par with international security frameworks.

The commitments were enough for the US Department of Homeland Security and US Department of Justice to advise the FCC they have no objections to the FCC approving the request for transfer of ASH Cable licnese to ATH.

ATH is now awaiting a decision by the FCC on its application.
