At a cabinet meeting Wednesday, Governor Lolo Moliga, just back from an off island trip the day before, discussed progress made by the Territorial Bank of American Samoa.

As reported by the governor’s Executive Assistant Iulogologo Joseph Pereira, the governor informed directors that the TBAS had taken delivery of debit cards and is issuing check books for customers.

And the government bank is steadily becoming a full service bank with the roll out of new products and services. For example direct deposits for ASG employees who are customers.

TBAS, which started offering personal loans the same year that it opened in 2016, plans to expand its loan services.

Iulogologo said another topic of discussion was the damage assessment reports for Tropical Storm Gita.

The governor urged directors to have all their paperwork completed for work projects associated with Gita for which assistance is being sought from FEMA.

These have to be entered into the FEMA portal before the end of the month.

Iulogologo said the governor stressed to directors they needed to have all their applications for FEMA funding before FEMA personnel now on island leave.

In other news, Governor Lolo Moliga will be attending Samoa’s independence celebrations on June 1st and 2nd.

And later in June he will be attending the Polynesian Group Leaders meeting in Tuvalu from June 25 to the 29th.

The governor attended his first PLG meeting in Apia last year where telecommunications and air travel were key discussion topics.
