The CEO of the Hawaiki Submarine Cable LLC, Mr. Remi Galasso expects that by June, the new undersea fiber optic cable connecting American Samoa to the US west coast, New Zealand and Australia will be on line.
The cable made landing at Fogagogo beach on Saturday, just a few steps away from where the American Samoa Hawaii Cable landed.
Crews worked throughout the weekend to pull the cable from Fogagogo to the land station at the Iliili Golf Course.
Speaking to KHJ News at the spot where the Hawaiki Cable landed at Fogagogo on Saturday, Mr. Galasso gave this timeline of when the new marine cable will be on line.
