Stoning in latest roadblock at Luatuanuu

The assistance ban imposed on Luatuanu’u village by the Samoa Government last week looks like it’s not getting the desired reaction.

Last night issued a warning to road users “to remain alert whilst traversing this part of Upolu, especially at night.

The Samoa Observer posted a statement from Samoa Police late last night which said they received telephone calls from travellers concerned at a roadblock at Luatuanu’u.

Apparently a toilet bowl was placed in the middle of the road along with rocks, blocking the road.

Police said uniformed officers were dispatched to the scene, where they contacted the village spokesperson, who indicated that Luatuanu’u would handle the matter and that the village will call a meeting in the morning to address the issue.

A preliminary investigation found the unknown suspects had fled the scene after removing the makeshift roadblock.

Police said they also discovered a private vehicle sustained moderate damage and rocks had been thrown at passing vehicles.
