AT 1 this afternoon Governor Lolo Moliga was informed that President Donald Trump has approved American Smaoa ;a request for declaration of a major disaster area after Cyclone Gita.
The governor submitted the request to FEMA this past Sunday.
A very pleased Governor Lolo informed KHJ News of the approval and said that further details will be announced soon.
The declaration authorizes federal assistance through FEMA and other federal agencies to individuals who suffered losses and damages to homes and rental property as a result of the cyclone and to the government for building, infrastructure and utilities.
There’s also assistance in the form of low interest loans for businesses, churches, private schools and other community facilities through the Small Business Administration.
