A live broken power line, down since Cyclone Gita, is being blamed for the death of an 8 year old boy from a village east of Apia, Samoa yesterday.

Details of how the young boy was electrocuted were not available but TV1 Samoa reported that the family had reported the broken power line after the cyclone but nothing was done.

A family member told TV1Samoa that the Electric Power Corporation only turned up to turn off the power line after the fatality.

Police spokesperson Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the accident.
