Stores stock up on hurricane supplies

Local grocery stores and hardware suppliers appear to be well stocked for a surge in shopping as federal assistance arrives for families displaced by Gita.

Stores like Cost U Less and Panamex Pacific say that they have enough supplies and are certain there wont be any shortaged.

After the surge in shopping in preparation for Gita’s arrival, Cost U Less is out of flash lights but is expecting a new order soon.

One of the fastest moving items in the store is ice, which is sold as soon as the ice cooler is stocked.

Bottled water is in plentiful supply with the arrival of two containers.

Neils Ace Homecenter is restocking building materials that were moving out of the store fast during the rush prior to Gita’s arrival.

A spokeswoman said their roofing nails and electrical materials were selling fast and they are now short on some materials.

But the store got a new shipment of roofing nails yesterday and trying their best to bring materials needed as quickly as they can.

They are expecting more electrical supplies to arrive in the 1st week of March.

Tool Shop says after Cyclone Gita they were short on generators and chainsaws but are expecting new shipments on March 24th.
