The 2017 /2018 school year has been extended by one week.

Director of Education, Dr. Ruth Matagi Tofiga, says she’s  consulted with her deputies regarding the impact of Tropical Cyclone Gita that led to 8 days of school cancellation.

Due to missed classroom time their decision is to extend the school year one additional week.

So instead of June 8 being the last day of instruction, the last day of instruction will be June 15th.

The director said graduations will be held on the week of June 18-22.

Dr. Matagi Tofiga says the extra week should make up for lost instructional time.

The director also announced the dates for high school graduations:

  • Manu’a High School – June 15
  • Tafuna- June 18
  • Faga’itua- June 19
  • Samoana – June 20
  • Nu’uuli Vocational High School – June 21
  • Leone High School –  June 22.
