Director of education Dr. Ruth Matagi Tofiga said from what we witnessed this morning students are happy school is opened, teachers and school administrators were out greeting their students and welcoming them back to school.
The Department of Education in preparation for the re-opening of school, established DOE Recovery Teams to assess the psychological impacts of Gita on the students.
Each of the school districts have DOE recovery teams visiting all campuses.
As it did before Gita struck the School Lunch Program is providing water coolers for all public and private schools under the Boil Water Notice.
Director Ruth Matagi Tofiga acknowledged Gov. Lolo Moliga for making schools a priority, and thanked ASPA, Public Works, EPA and all government departments that have engaged in this recovery efforts.
She said they have certainly epitomized the DOE theme, “Together we succeed.”
