Two students are beginning the first of a six year medical scholarship program at the Fiji National University this semester.

Mary Mataia and Tikeri Noel Anesi won ASG scholarship awards to train as physicians at the Fiji medical institution.

Malopa’o Dr. Akenese Nikolao, LBJ Hospital‘s contact person for scholarships says the Fiji scholarships are worth $15,000 annually and will be for six years.

The two students have just left the territory for Fiji.

ASG is offering two medical scholarships at FNU each year.

It’s hoped that the Fiji scholarship graduates will help meet the shortage of doctors and other medical personnel at the hospital and Department of Health.
