Marie Alailima is confirmed as new ALJ

The Senate has confirmed by unanimous vote, Marie Alailima, as the new Administrative Law Judge of American Samoa.

The vote was 18-0 and followed a confirmation hearing for Alailima who has been an ALJ pro tem since 2007.

Only Senate confirmation is needed for judicial appointments.

In his letter of nomination, Governor Lolo Moliga noted that former ALJ Toetagata Albert Mailo has retired  and he was nominating Alailima for a full six year term.

Alailima obtained her juris doctor from the William Richardson School of Law, University of Hawaii, Manoa.

Alailima has practiced law in the territory since 1996, and is active in the American Samoa Bar Association.
