Senator Sauitufuga Pita Suiaunoa sworn in

A new senator for Alataua was sworn in yesterday.

Sauitufuga Pita Suiaunoa took the oath of office after a committee comprising Senators Magalei Logovii, Tuaolo Fruean and Faamausili Mau Mau Jr, reviewed the credentials for the new senator, and whether the selection complied with the law.

After a brief recess Chairman Magalei informed the chamber that all requirements of the law were met.

Chief Associate Judge Mamea Sala administered the oath of office for Senator Sauitufuga with Mrs Suiaunoa holding the Bible on which he swore to uphold all laws of the United States and American Samoa.

The new senator is a veteran educator in public schools.

He replaces former Alataua senator Paepae Iosefa Faiai who was appointed as an Associate Judge of the High Court.
