Eleven ASG vehicles were pulled over during a Department of Public Safety vehicle checkpoint last Friday morning in Pago Pago. ‘

Comissioner of Public Safety Le’i Sonny Thompson explaned that the enforcement was for government vehicles and was aimed at making sure the government fleet has been registered and inspected for the new year.

He said sometimes the operators are too busy with other daily chores that they forget to have their vehicle inspected and registered for new stickers.

He added that DPS has been tasked with this responsibility to help eliminate the unauthorized use of government vehicles after hours.

He said the 11 vehicles which were pulled over and directed to have their vehicles inspected and registered were from various departments.

Le’i said the vehicle inspection checkpoint will move to the west side this week.
