Defendant in cop shooting denied bail

Thomas Siaumau, who’s accused of shooting at police officers on the night of December 14 has waived his rights to a preliminary examination in District Court.

Siaumau is to be arraigned in High Court tomorrow on  nine charges, six felonies including assault and weapons charges, and three misdemeanors.

He is being held without bail at the Territorial Correctional Facility.

Two police officers had responded to a call from the ASTCA security that someone was throwing cherry bombs from the Tony Solaita Baseball Field  towards the direction of the ASTCA building.

One of the cops was looking around the field when bullets were fired.

Commissioner of Public Safety Lei Sonny Thompson said it could have been fatal if the cop was still in the front passenger seat.
