Bishop Peter Brown of the Catholic Diocese of Samoa – Pago Pago also gave this Thanksgiving Day message.
“In praise to God all the people of American Samoa offer their heartfelt thanks on the occasion of Thanksgiving Day 2017.
“Many travel great distances to experience this family season.
“It is a special time when we recall the many blessings given to us by God.
“The gift of life, the gift of family in a land of plenty. We pray for our own who are without family at this time.
“Can we also take time to reflect on the greatest need facing the world today.
“Many millions of people force to flee their country and families due to war and famine.
“May Thanksgiving Day be also remembrance of refugees day.
“As Catholic Bishop of American Samoa I wish you a happy and Holy Thanksgiving Day.”
