Abortions and same sex marriages will never be legalized in Samoa as long as Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi and the ruling Human Rights Protection Party are in power.
“We will never allow this kind of heathenistic practice in our country,” he said during his weekly Radio 2AP broadcast earlier this afternoon.
Tuilaepa was reacting to a media query about an alleged Ministry of Health report suggesting that abortion be legalized.
He said he had not seen the report but added that under no circumstances would he and the HRPP allow legalized abortion.
“There are two things that we will never, ever allow to be legalized, one is abortion and the other is men marrying men or women marrying women,” he said.
He said Samoa is a Christian country and these practices were not Christian ones.
