A man whom the court has called a nightmare to Vaitogi residents, breaking into their homes and stealing their belongings, has been sent to jail for five years.

When Siaosi Ieremia pleaded with Associate Judge Elvis Patea for one more chance to take care of his mother and family, the judge wasn’t sympathetic.

Judge Patea told the defendant that the court has reviewed everything and is fully aware of the many opportunities the Probation Office gave to help him,

Patea said the court is also aware of the nightmare the defendant has caused residents of Vaitogi whom he has victimized though his crimes.

According to the judge, the only appropriate disposition for the defendant was to revoke his probation.

Ieremia, represented by Assistant Public Defender, Michael White, was sentenced to 5 years in jail and ordered to pay restitution of $1,449 for stealing.

He was also sentenced to 15 years in jail for first degree burglary but the sentence will be served together with the stealing sentence.

The prosecutor was Assistant Attorney General Morrison.
