The body of Sgt. First Class Albert Chung, the Army recruiter who drowned at Alega Beach August 6,  will be returned to the US tomorrow night.

The local Army Recruiting Station has planned a memorial service for their colleague at 1 pm tomorrow at the Army Reserve Center in Tafuna.

The 32 year-old Chung, had enlisted in the US Army in 2003 and at the time of his untimely passing was Center Leader at the Korea Center, Guam Company, Portland Recruiting Battalion.

His colleagues remember him as a professional in his work as a recruiter, “he was helpful, easy going and friendly.”

One soldier said on talanei.com: “SFC Chung was an amazing soldier and a great friend. I struggle to find the words that I could use to explain to people, who hadn’t had the pleasure of knowing him, how wonderful of a person he was. I am sitting here, with tears streaming down my face, wishing that he was still with us. I miss you, SFC Chung, and will always appreciate the good times we had while Recruiters in Los Angeles.”

Another wrote: “Al was my best friend. We deployed twice together, drove across the country back home together and loved to hit up summer blockbusters. I’m lost. Condolences to his parents, brother and family. Miss you already, bro.”

A family member said, “Albert, thank you being a good brother, son, cousin, and nephew to us all. We miss you very very much. Rest in peace and we will see you again. I know you will be looking down on us and watching over us. The family is proud of you always.”
