Tonga eager to trade with Am Samoa

Tonga is eager to turn trade discussions into tangible results. 

Mr Tomifa Paea who heads or is a member of several government boards in Tonga, including port , airport and shipping says they fully support the vision of past leaders of Tonga, Samoa and American Samoa for a closer and mutually beneficial relationship between the three countries.

Tonga has been talking with the American Samoa Power Authority about sourcing utility poles from Tonga.

It has also been discussing the possibility of sending its vessels to be repaired at the shipyard at Satala. 

Mr. Paea was positive about trade opportunities between Tonga and American Samoa.

Tonga is the only South Pacific port attending this week’s meeting of the Association of Pacific Ports, which Mr. Paea said is important for understanding US regulations and legislation relating to maritime transportation and trade.
