The Federal Emergency Management Agency has appointed Tafaimamao Tua Tupuola as a member of the National Advisory Council Integrated Public Alert and Warning System Subcommittee.
Ms Tua Tupuola was one of 31 Subcommittee members appointed by the FEMA Administrator earlier this month to oversee the IPAWS program
IPAWS is responsible for implementing a national public alert and warning system supporting presidential warning requirements.
Ms Tupuola, Director of the University Center for Excellence on Developmental Disabilities at the American Samoa Community College was nominated by Andy Imparato, Executive Director of the Association of University Centers on Disabilities.
Mr. Imparato had also nominated Ms. Tupuola for membership on the Federal Communications Commission Disability Advisory Council, to which she was appointed last year.
The IPAWS National Advisory Subcommittee inaugural meeting is planned for next month.
