Manu’a Day Holiday Is on July 17

July 16, 2017 marks the 113th year Anniversary of the Manu’a Islands aligning their interests with the United States.

It was on this day, King Tui Manu’a Elisara,  signed the Deed of Cession and swore allegiance and ceded the islands to the United States.

This historical document was signed at the Crown Residence, Faleula in Lalopua, Manu’a.

This year Manu’a Flag Day falls on a Sunday, however the ceremony will take place on Monday, July 17.

As in the past, the events will take place on Ta’u Island with an opening church service, raising of the flag, and ending with traditional speeches and dancing to commemorate this historical event.

Governor Lolo has declared Manu’a Day a public holiday for ASG.
