Governor Lolo Moliga is to address a joint session of the Fono on Monday to open the second regular session of the 35th Legislature.

This will be held at the Lee Auditorium in Utulei beginning at 10 am.

It has been the norm from previous years for the governor to address the Fono only at the beginning of the year, where he presents his State of the Territory address

And when the second regular session convenes, each chamber meets separately.

However because of the extensive legislative package that the administration is asking the Fono to approve, Governor Lolo will deliver an address at a joint opening session

Governor Lolo who attended yesterday’s meeting to discuss the Revenue Task Force revenue proposals said he wants the Fono to have an in-depth understanding of the government’s current operation and how lawmakers could assist the administration with legislation that would benefit the government.

He told Fono leaders and members who were present, there ‘s nothing stable from the federal government and the future is not going to be easy.

Lolo said a solution to stabilize the local economy was in the hands of the lawmakers who have the authority to make necessary amendments to existing laws, for the benefit of the people.

The governor said the status of Tri Marine International and Samoa Tuna Processors was uncertain and the same could be said for StarKist.

Nevertheless,  the governor said that there is still an opportunity to work with the Fono with hopes that all proposed revenue measures will be favorably endorsed by lawmakers.
