The head of the Imaging Division of the LBJ Hospital, Vaanatiu Toafala Iafeta is waiting to see if his staff will be exempted from the reduction in hours, before he makes any changes.

Vaanatiu sent out an email to his staff  June 12, advising that no more computerized tomography (CT) scans will be completed after 4:30pm, nor the weekends.

He said this will be in place until his staff can be paid their full 80 hours per pay period as well as call in overtime.

When KHJ News asked Vaanatiu if there’s been any change in his position he said he’s waiting to see if the hospital management grants his request,  that is to restore full  working hours for his employees.

He said if his request is met then he will change his decision.

The reduction in hours which went into effect April 10 exempts doctors, nurses, teachers and contract employees.
