June 24th Is Olympic Day at Veterans Memorial Stadium

The Annual Olympic Day scheduled for June 24 at the Veterans Memorial Stadium is shaping up to be a major celebration.

The American Samoa National Olympic Committee hopes the community will take part in the many events planned for that day.

A 5 and 10 k walk/run kicks off from the Stadium at 5am.

Registration is free and you can contact Mike and Paula McDonald at the Pago Pago WaterSports and Fitness in Utulei or sign up before starting time that morning at the stadium.

All those registered get a free Olympic Day Tshirt.

There’ll be live bands, singing and dancing. Other morning activities include taebo and Zumba.

A parade of all athletes and sports federations will be held and show cars and trucks will be included.

The various sports associations affiliated with ASNOC will demonstrate their sports and a car show will be part of the festivities.

ASNOC is inviting ASG departments and agencies and business and individual vendors to have tents to display and sell their services and goods.

Also during the event, member of the public will have a chance to vote for the best five logos entered for the ASNOC logo competition.

The top five logos will be picked from the people’s choice with the top 3 receiving medals.

The winning Logo which will be the identity of ASNOC will be decided by the ASNOC Commission from the top 5 entries picked by the people and the winner will receive $500.
