McDonald’s American Samoa Continues to Invest in Youth

Since 2006, McDonald’s American Samoa has invested close to $400,000 in the youth of American Samoa through scholarships to further their education.

Yesterday, the fast food restaurant presented checks to four recipients of the McDonald’s scholarships.

Ms Jennet Chang, a graduate of the American Samoa Community College receives a $20,000 two year scholarship to study horticulture at the University of Hawaii-Hilo.

Four students are awarded two year scholarships of $4,000 to obtain degrees at the American Samoa Community College.

They are Rosalyn Taulaga, Jemima Nafatali and ORiley Leau, all graduates of Fagaitua High School and Ta’avili Amosa, a graduate of Tafuna High School.

Mrs Donna Gurr spoke on behalf of the McDonald’s Scholarship Board  to congratulate the students and their parents,  and explain McDonald’s intention in investing in education.

Dolores Tautolo, daughter of owner Tautolo Charlie Tautolo shared how her father introduced her to hard work when she came hone with a Bachelor’s degree from Washington State University in 2006.
