The LBJ Hospital is having success in hiring more US board certified physicians and nurses.

Two new pediatricians are starting at the LBJ Hospital this month, the first time in more than a year that new pediatricians have accepted employment at the LBJ Hospital.

One is a US board certified ER medical doctor and another is an ER Physician.

The Pediatric Clinic has been acutely understaffed with the passing of Fuata Dr. Tagiilima Iatala in March.

At the time, only two doctors were manning the Pediatric Clinic and two were looking after the ward and being on call.

Doctors from the Department of Health were on loan to LBJ to help alleviate the situation.

Also due to join the LBJ medical staff in September is a US board certified nurse practitioner .

Tami Kneubuhl, credentialing coordinator and physician recruiter at LBJ Hospital said they are currently in negotiations with several other US Board certified medical personnel.

These include  surgeons, ER Nurse Practitioners, an Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner, a Nephrologist, two Radiologists, and another US Board certified pediatrician.

She said LBJ’ Hospital is continuously advertising online in search of more US board certified practitioners.
