A memorial service in remembrance of and in celebration of the late former Congressman Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin’s life and service will be hosted by the Samoan Congregation at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall (JBMHH), commonly referred to as Fort Myer in Virginia.

Ft. Myer Post or JBMHH and specifically the Memorial Chapel, is where the Samoan Congregation of Washington, DC holds its church/worship services every Sunday for the past more than 30 years.

A founding member of the congregation and former staffer for Congressman Faleomavaega. Aoelua Solomona, said the late Faleomavaega is most familiar with these places as he was a member of the Samoan Congregation and attended church regularly when in town.

It’s the same church where the funeral services for the late U.S. Army Private Jonathan Falaniko, son of retired US Army Command Sergeant Major Ioakimo Falaniko and 2nd Samoan casualty of the Iraq war, was held on November 7, 2003.

The  celebration will start with a church worship in the Memorial Chapel (on Ft. Myer Post) from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

At the conclusion of the worship service, the celebration will move to the Fort Myer Community Center (still on Ft. Myer Post) for a full program including luncheon, personal testimonies, and entertainment.

Aoelua said Mrs. Hinanui Hunkin  and her  children will be attending the event…
