Slight increase in wholesale price of petroleum products

gasoline

An increase in crude oil prices is pushing up the wholesale price for petroleum products by a few cents in the new price schedule or Maximum Allowable Price for fuel imported and sold in American Samoa which goes into effect today.

The increase translates to an average of 3c/gallon in the base price for diesel and 2c/gallon for both unleaded gas and jet fuel.

Transportation costs also went up.

The base price and the transportation cost accounts for over 57% of the MAP on diesel, and 61% of unleaded and jet fuel sold on island.

With the latest increase, unleaded gasoline will sell at $2.75 cents a gallon wholesale and about $3.24 a gallon at the pump.

Road diesel will sell at $3.30 a gallon for diesel and for boil generators the cost is $2.47 a gallon.

Ultra low sulfur road diesel will sell at $2.82 cents a gallon and $2.51 a gallon for boiler generators.

Jet fuel will sell at $2.51 a gallon, and kerosene $2.53 a gallon.

Marine diesel which is used by fishing vessels will sell at $2.35 a gallon.
