Award winning poet Terisa Siagatonu is a big name among high school and college students on the US west coast, particularly the City by the Bay where she lives and works.

She has performed on many college campuses and even the United Nations, her subjects dealing with being a minority in the US, about poverty, rape, about being a Polynesian woman, about climate change and many other topics.

She was here last week as part of the Case Project team that traveled with Canadian Football League star quarterback Jeremiah Masoli.

Siagatonu was in charge of the literacy part of their one week tour which combined sports and self expression through poetry and essays.

The animated, articulate young woman hasn’t been here for 12 years and on this trip she‘s gained a deeper appreciation of her Samoan roots.
