RM Construction, a local company owned by Roy Mallari has won the contract to fix the lake in front of the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints in Ottoville.

This and the road along Hope House which are constantly flooded every time it rains and takes a long time to drain when the rain stops, have been a pain for motorists, many of whom have mounted thousands of dollars in car repairs over the many years that the flooded road has not been fixed.

Director of Public Works, Faleosina Voigt told a hearing of the House Public Works Committee today that the Notice To Proceed for this project should be issued hopefully by the end of this month.

The project is expected to take nine months to complete.

Voigt said the drainage job is on Public Work’s five year plan of road maintenance funded by the Federal High way Administration.

With the Samoa Baptist lake in Happy Valley, the director told the committee that Public Works is looking for local funds to fix this water pool.

Lawmakers had many questions about roads in their districts.

The DPW Director said that for secondary roads that are not included in the 5 year plan, DPW has to wait for local funds for these projects.
