The Samoa stigmata case of 2016 seems to have taken an alarming turn, at least for the father of stigmata woman, Rev Opapo Soana’i.

The Samoa Observer reportd that the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa minister, who serves with his wife and family at Si’ufaga, Falelatai is under scrutiny by the Elders Committee of the church.

It seems that events following the stigmata revelations has alarmed church leaders who are now considering stripping Rev Soana’i of his ministerial qualifications.

It has been widely reported that the use of religious statues in the church at Si’ufaga has stirred the ire of the church elders, who say the practice is against CCCS church teachings and beliefs.

The elders committee is meeting in Apia this week and Rev Soana’i is awaiting the outcome.

He told Samoa Observer, “….. I have not received any confirmation or official word from the church in relation to the issue”.

Last year Rev. Soana’i’s daughter converted to Catholicism saying at the time it was the only way she can continue her mission from God.

No comment was forthcoming from the CCCS Elders Committee on the issue but it is expected that a statement on this and other matters would be released by the end of the week.
