Parents Seek Police Help for Son with Mental Condition

The parents of a young man described as mentally challenged requested police assistance after their son smashed several household belongings last week.

Faaaliga Tui, who was charged with private peace disturbance , was reported to be on and off medication for his condition.

According to a police report, the responding officers had to force their way into the defendant’s room after he refused to let them in.

When they entered his room, he was holding a metal pipe.

The parents told police when they asked the son for the key of the washing machine he got mad and started smashing things in the house including their television set.

The father said he is scared of his son because of his condition and he and his wife don’t want him home but rather where he can get help for his condition.

The defendant was taken to LBJ Hospital’s Psychiatric Ward after his court appearance Friday.
