Woman in Post Office Drug Bust Makes Initial Appearance

The suspect in the drug bust at the Post Office on Monday made her initial appearance in District court this morning.

Mel Katrina Wells was the person who claimed a package in which customs agents found 3 plastic baggies containing suspected methamphetamine.

Field tests yielded positive results for methamphetamine.

The baggies containing 3 pounds of meth were in the shell of a Central Processing Unit for a computer.

Wells, who was served an arrest warrant yesterday, was represented by private attorney Sharron Rancourt who requested that her bail of $25,000 be reduced to $20,000.

District Court Judge Gwen Tauiliili Langkilde accepted.

Wells’ preliminary examination has been scheduled for 1pm next Thursday,

Prosecuting the case was Assistant Attorney General Woodrow Bengally.
