Alataua Picks Paepae Joe Faiai as New Senator

Alataua District has selected Paepae Joe Faiai as their new senator.

Paepae, a military retiree , is a former pilot for ASG’s Segaula aircraft and also flew for Samoa Air .

He takes over from Senator Faletagoa’i I. Tuiolemotu from the village of Poloa.

At an initial meeting of chiefs of Nua & Se’etaga village to select the new senator, several expressed interest in serving  as senator however all agreed on Paepae to take up the seat.

At the Alataua District Council meeting outgoing Senator Faletagoa’i thanked district chiefs for giving him the chance to be their representative in the Senate.

He is happy to have played a part in moving repairs of bad roads in Alataua District.

He hopes that the next Senator will continue to push to have the entire district covered with newly paved roads before the end of this administration.

Faletagoai told KHJ News his only reason to request another 4 years in the Senate is to see the completion of roads all the way to Fagamalo.

This past Sunday, the Village Council of Poloa met to choose the district’s next fa’alupega or county chief.

Former village mayor, Ma’ilealo L. Tuiolemotu was named as the new fa’alupega for Alataua district for the next four years.

And the district has confirmed Lualemaga Faoa of Leasina and Aitulagi to remain as  Western District Governor for another term.
