3 Pounds of Meth Hidden in CPU Shell

post-office-2

A major drug bust at the Pago Pago Post Office on Monday illustrates the sophistication of smuggling methods used in the trade of controlled substances in the territory.

And the effectiveness of the customs canine agents.

Three plastic baggies containing methamphetamine were found hidden in the shell of a Central Processing Unit (CPU) of a computer.

A woman who picked up the package containing the CPU, Katrina Wells, is to be formally charged today.

Commissioner of Public Safety Save Liuato Tuitele says the three plastic baggies contained 3 pounds of ice and they were packed into the shell of the CPU.

The methamphetamine was sniffed out by one of the canine customs agents working at the Post Office on Monday morning.

According to the commissioner, the woman taken into custody came to the Post Office to claim the package with the CPU and the prohibited contents.

He said the suspect was uncooperative with police who are investigating the drug bust. She did not have any ID on her.

People who were at the Post Office said the woman attracted their attention because she put up a fuss when customs agents were questioning her before police led her away .
