Despite ASG Lawsuit, NOAA Maintains Cordial Relations with ASG

ASG has filed a lawsuit against NOAA over the amendment to the 50 mile rule which now allows longliners to fish in waters that previously only small alia could fish in.

The Director of the Pacific Division of NOAA Fisheries, Mike Tosatto says the federal agency maintains cordial relations with the local government.

Speaking to KHJ News at last week’s meeting of the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission in Nadi, Fiji Tosatto said NOAA  is continuing several programs and services in the territory.

And while NOAA made decisions that may not be to the liking of the local government, he’s hopeful that ASG will come to see the benefits of those decisions.

Tosatto said NOAA has a good relationship with the local government.
