ASG retirees did not get their monthly retirement checks in their bank accounts as they do every 15th day of the month today.
After waiting in line at the banks this morning the retirees went home without any money,
They called the Retirement Fund Office and were told staff are looking into why the deposits didn’t go through.
When KHJ News contacted the Retirement Fund Office, we were informed there was an error with their direct deposits which staff were working to correct.
A senior employee said retirees with direct deposits should have their money in their accounts by tomorrow.
Retirees receiving paper checks are not affected…their checks are disbursed at the Retirement Fund Office or mailed.
The Executive Director of the Retirement Fund, Talia Faafetai Iaulualo is off island , attending a meeting of the Board in the mainland and could not be reached for comment.
