The Coast Guard has advised mariners that a safety zone has been designated for the Coastweeks Fautasi Challenge tomorrow.
The safety zone area is from Breakers Point, at the eastern edge of the entrance to Pago Pago Harbor, to Tulutulu Point and no vessel will be allowed in the area during the fautasi race.
The Coast Guard is enforcing the safety zone from 10am to 4pm tomorrow but may end it earlier if conditions warrant
Entry in the zone is prohibited unless authorized by the Captain of the port Honolulu or his designated representative.
Anyone entering the safety zone without the permission of the Captain of the Port is subject to a penalty of not more than $40,000 for each violation or a criminal penalty resulting in imprisonment of not more than 25 years and a fine of $250,000.
Offending vessels may also be seized and held liable for any monetary assessments.
