A young woman who became rebellious and attacked her mom appeared in District Court today on charges of 3rd degree assault and private peace disturbance.

The defendant had gone missing from home for 3 days and got scolded when she returned home.

Court filings say the defendant got mad , and started hitting her mother.

Neighbors who witnessed the incident ran to assist the mother and restrained the defendant.

The mother contacted the Tafuna Sub-Station for help as the daughter was too much for her to handle .

This was confirmed by responding officers who said the defendant was swearing and being difficult.

The defendant denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty.

Purcell asked the court if she could live with her grandma since she won’t be allowed to return to her mother’s house.

The defendant was released on her own recognizance and District Court Judge Fiti Sunia said she can live at your grandmother’s house but if she goes missing she will be sent to the Territorial Correctional Facility.

The judge also instructed the defendant not to harass or threaten anyone.

The defendant’s next pre-trial date is set for November 29th, 2016.
