It’s been a relatively peaceful election Day morning according to reports from various voting places.
Polling places in Leone, Pago Pago and Tafuna were quiet , with the only noise heard was the Election Office workers calling out the number of voters and their names.

At the polling place at the Mauga guest house in Pago Pago, there was a steady stream of voters turning up to cast ballots.
Sila Samuelu was the Election Office Supervisor there.

The guest house had been cordoned off with yellow caution tape and the part of the tape closest to the guest house read “no campaigning beyond this point.”

The voting was like clockwork and KHJ News observed that the process was seamless.
Pam Berquist cast her ballot around 7:30 am.

We also checked in with Ale Filoialii in Ta’u, Manu’a and most of the voters there had cast their ballots.

The majority of Manu’a voters will vote on Tutuila.
Police are patrolling voting precincts from one end of the island to the other and this will continue right on up to tonight when the last votes are counted.
