Cases in District Court Waiting for Police Reports

Several cases in District Court have been continued pending police reports.

District Court Judge Fiti Sunia was not at all impressed when informed by prosecutor Woodrow Bengally that three cases that were to be heard on Wednesday are still awaiting police reports.

One public peace disturbance case was dismissed this week because police were unable to provide that the defendant was the one who yelled profanities in a public place.

Bengally told the judge that the police officer who investigated the case of defendant Samson Liliu said that the people who were at the scene and were interviewed could not confirm if the accused was the one who was swearing.

The prosecutor asked that the case be dismissed and Judge Sunia granted it.

In another case the judge has ordered the court marshal to issue a bench warrant for Fa’avi Sefuiva who has failed twice to appear before the court.

Sefuiva was to appear for his pre-trial on Wednesday but he never showed up.
