Harmful to Consume Produce Exposed to Illegal Pesticides

The Department of Agriculture is getting the word out about the reasons for their decision to temporarily stop all locally grown produce for the school lunch program with the exception of taros and bananas and vegetables that are from hydroponic farms.

The suspension went into effect last week after farm inspections by DOA found several violations in farming practices and use of illegal pesticides.

Arona Palamo, a consultant for Agriculture, said consumption of produce that are exposed to illegal pesticides may be harmful.
