Governor Signs Anti Litter Bill Into Law

fono-8

The new anti litter bill which the Fono passed in the last session has been signed into law.

Governor Lolo praised the leaders and members of the Fono for approving the bill because it “asserts and avows publicly our desire to enforce all our litter laws by extending enforcement authority previously restricted to the Department of Public Safety to more agencies of ASG. “

The funds raised from fines provided in the new bill will help fund programs to promote awareness efforts for beautifying the territory and enhancing our attraction to visitors.

Fines in the new law range from $50 for a first offence to $1,000 for a 4th offence.
