A retired police officer who is now an Assistant Manager for the Territorial Emergency Management Coordinating Office (TEMCO) under the Department of Homeland Security running in the House election for Saole District.

Sixty-five year old Manaea Fotu Leuta said that there‘s alot of work needed for his district.

Saying he doesn’t know what the current Representative has done this past term, Manaea points out lack of seawalls has caused major erosion in several villages of Saole.

The roads and constant Boil Water notices are other priority needs.

Manaea said timing is a critical factor in getting things done and vows to do his bidding at the right time to garner support from the governor and administration and Fono leadership to bring about improvements.

The first time candidate says there are ways to get the funding needed if the government’s budget is insufficient.

Manaea lives in the village of Amouli, with his wife Omao and their five children.

He worked with the Department of Public Safety for more than 2 decades, has been a village Pulenu’u for two years and was also the district’s county chief (fa’alupega) for four years.

Manaea has been instrumental with the installation of the Department of Homeland Security’s emergency sirens in the territory.

He explains that dealing with the general public’s properties and lands is not easy.

He was tasked to talk to village leaders and family sa’os to get their support for installation of the sirens.

Manaea said there would have been costly delays if it wasn’t for the cooperation of village matais.
